Telluride 2020 Conference Info

The October conference will be held in beautiful Telluride, CO. during peak fall color. Please refer to the information provided here for making your travel arrangements and for general FAQ. 

TELLURIDE CONFERENCE CENTER:

 

The Telluride 2020 Outsiders Photography Conference will be held at the Telluride Conference center conveniently located in Mountain Village and next to the luxurious Peaks Resort and Spa. ( the preferred Hotel partner of the conference)

Located in the heart of Mountain Village, the Telluride Conference Center offers over 20,000 square feet of meeting space with an adjacent outdoor plaza. Just a few steps from the conference center resides the free gondola connecting Mountain Village to Telluride. The gondola allows groups to travel easily between historic downtown Telluride Mountain Village allowing attendees a wide variety of dining and hotel options.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

We have secured 100 rooms for the conference at the Peaks Resort for October 1-4, 2020 at $189/nt. Plus $10 resort fee and tax. Rooms available are 1 and 2 king rooms 400 sq ft and includes a 20% discount at the spas. There are many hotels in the Mountain Village and Teluride, along with AirBNB options. Recommended booking dates of Oct. 1-4th with optional extension if you plan to add a pre or post-conference workshop. 

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE:

The free gondola offers transpiration between Telluride and the Mountain Village.   

Parking: 

"It’s a matter of personal preference as to where you choose to park in Mountain Village, so we offer a variety of options: paid lots and garages that are in close proximity to restaurants, shops, bars, ski lifts and our trail system, and free options that are in reasonable travel distance to and from Mountain Village Center." AIRPORT AND TRAVEL:

When flying to Telluride, there are several airport options from which to choose:

  • Montrose-Telluride Regional Airport (MTJ) - 75 minutes to Mountain Village
  • Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) - 15 minutes to Mountain Village
  • Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT) - 2 1/2 hours to Mountain Village
  • Durango-La Plata Regional Airport (DRO) - 2 1/2 hours to Mountain Village

 

Once in Telluride, Telluride's gondola system provides free transportation between the town of Mountain Village and the town of Telluride. It's the first and only free public transportation of its kind in the United States. "What was once an eight mile drive between the two towns, the gondola provides a more direct 3-mile route over the mountains. Over 2.8 million riders enjoy the gondola each year, which reduces environmental impacts caused by vehicles. The gondola has also adopted the state of Colorado’s Climate Action Plan to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by the year 2020. The plan, called the Green Gondola Project, has a goal to replace 20 percent of its traditional electricity use with locally-generated alternative energy. What if I need to cancel my registration?

That would be unfortunate, but we understand things happen. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy for details. 

NOTE: We strongly suggest purchasing travel insurance or having some type of insurance in the event you have to cancel.

What will the weather be like in Colorado during the event?

We chose October as it is a perfect and mild time to visit for peak fall color. Temps can be in the 60s during the day, but chilly in the evenings around 25. As always, be prepared for anything with appropriate clothing resources. 

Can I transfer my registration to another person?

Unfortunately due to the nature of the conference, these are non-transferable tickets. 

 Will you be offering excursions during the conference?

This is a relaxed environment conference focused on in-class education and connecting with people, speakers and conference sponsors. We will allow for time before and after the conference for photography, and many of the speakers will be hosting pre or post-conference excursions.

How do I sign up for a post conference workshop?

Because these will be hosted by the individual photographers and not through the conference, please visit here register for any pre or post conference excursions and photo opportunities in the area.

I have a photography related business and would like to be a sponsor. How do I do that?

Can I pay a lower price to only attend certain sessions?

The conference is not à la carte and the ticket is for access to all sessions. 

The conference is sold out. Is there a wait list in case more seats open up?

Yes. Please register for the waiting list HERE and ask to be added to the list

I am interested in attending, but not sure of my schedule. Can a ticket be held for me?

Unfortunately no. Seating is limited and will fill up quickly. This is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please join our mailing list for updates closer to the event.
